★★☆☆☆
(how do my ratings work?)
Hails from: Sicily, Italy; Grapes: Grillo
The Marsala style was developed by English trader John Woodhouse ‘in perpetuum’ which is similar to the solera system. Long travels at sea used to bake the wine. Nowadays this is done in the winery and in this example you get an intensely orangey wine with bitter coffee, fig and chocolate notes. It’s smooth and rich. It’s pretty moreish!
