Sant’Ilia Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

★★★★☆
(how do my ratings work?)

Hails from: Thrace, Bulgaria; Grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Melnik

This wine has had 6 months in French and Bulgarian oak to mature. It’s ruby coloured with a beautifully fruity nose of blackcurrants and juicy black cherry. Hints of vanilla from the oak as well. The palate is intense and full with silky tannins. I would describe this wine as a “ballsy Beaujolais”. It would be lovely with steak or a vegetable dansak curry.
