Hails from: Greyton, South Africa. Grapes: Viognier

This is Samantha O’Keefe’s flagship white wine, a 100% Viognier from fruit harvested at her Greyton vineyard. Located 300m above sea level, this isn’t like any other South African Viognier. Yes it’s got all the opulent dried apricot fruit you might expect but those notes are beautifully-balanced by aromas of gresh ginger and smooth, new oak. There’s just 4.4g/l sugar in here but the ripeness is intense, so you’re never short of a punch.

Dry white wine made by: Lismore Estate

Drink 2020-2025. Circa £33.00 (find this wine). Tasted: January 2019
