Hails from: Tuscany, Italy. Grapes: Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot

From Ricasoli, one of the four oldest wine estates in the world. This Riserva style has had 15 months in oak barrique. Medium-full berry-coloured red with aromas of prune, violet, blackcurrant and Cassis. Hints of woody vanilla. On the palate it’s smooth with fine and grippy tannin, hints of sour cherry (classic Sangiovese) backed by big juicy plum and blackberry fruit. Just a little sweet. A good wine in all but benefits from food to cut through the tannin and acid. Spicy pepperoni pizza, salty cheese or full bodied stews work well.
