The next generation of entrepreneurs inspire me. I love working with them and learning as much as they hopefully learn from me.

I am lucky enough to work in higher education as a consultant and guest speaker. It means I get to meet some fantastic people, hear some brilliant ideas and help them get funding and support to turn those ideas into real, tangible businesses.

In 2017 I became a founding member of yena, formerly the young entrepreneur’s networking association, which empowers the next generation of entrepreneurs.

One of the highlights from my work in entrepreneurship was to be nominated for membership as a Fellow of the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (FRSA) in March 2020.

Higher education

Ben Franks entrepreneur

In 2015, I built and designed the BathSparks Freelance and Entrepreneur programme alongside David Jarman for Bath Spa University. The Sparks programme still funds projects to this day and I occasionally run workshops, seminars and consult with the strategy of the programme for the University.

I have also run workshops with the sixth form at Beechen Cliff School in Bath and Sarum Academy in Salisbury, as well as working with the entrepreneurship team at the University of West England.

If you would like to hear my story and invite me to speak at your school or university, you can find my contact details below.

Food and drink investment

I am a passionate investor in start-up food and drinks brands. I love to hear about new projects in my specialist field, especially if they are run by young and enthusiastic founders.

If you are building something new in the food and drink space, we should talk.
