Majestic wine guide

Following the success of my Waitrose wine guide (read that here), by popular demand I’ve shopped around at Majestic wines and found some gems for you to try. Here’s my top picks for what you should be drinking if you shop at Majestic wines. From white and red wines you might have missed to bright sparkling fizz and sweet treats, let me introduce you to some of Majestic wine’s top producers. This guide to Majestic wines will also be updated monthly, just like my other supermarket buying guides.

Top tip: Bookmark it to see the latest Majestic wine recommendations from Ben each month.

How do I select the wines?

Every Majestic wine bottle recommended in this guide is one I have tasted. I’ve paid retail price for the wines, unless otherwise stated; for example, from time to time I am lucky enough to taste these wines at trade or press tastings. All the wines are graded on the Ben Franks Wine Rating system (BFWR) and must have at least ★ 1 star to make the guide. The star ratings work much like the Michelin system. No stars, no mention, but if a wine gets a star it means I recommend it as a ‘Good wine’ you should pick up. A ★★ 2 star ‘Great wine’ is a wine you should really seek out, and a rare ★★★ 3 star ‘Outstanding wine’ is one that you won’t forget.

This month’s Majestic wine picks: November 2025

Alain Grignon Vieles Vignes Carignan French wine is a one star Good wine recommended by Ben Franks Wine

Best Value

2024 Vieilles Vignes Carignan, Alain Grignon

★ Good Wine

Carignans I’ve tried recently have been displaying great value and this one’s no different.  Very well made, this has packs of fruit, soft tannins and hints of oak. A juicy, reliable go-to red.

£8.25, mixed 6

Marcelo Pelleriti Argentinian Cabernet Franc has been recommended as the best red in November at Majestic by Ben Franks Wine

Best Red

2021 Signature Cabernet Franc, Marcelo Pelleriti

★★ Great Wine

I’ve got a soft spot for great Cab Franc and this Argentinian red wine from the foothills of the Andes is absolutely cracking. Dried black fruits over smoky complexity. A real winter warmer!

£16.00, mixed 6

Best white wine at Majestic wine is Trimbach Pinot Blanc as recommended by Ben Franks Wine

Best White

2023 Pinot Blanc, Trimbach

★★ Great Wine

This very traditional Alsace winery still makes one of the best examples of Pinot Blanc you can buy, especially for this price. It goes beyond the lemon oils and sherbety citrus of other Pinot Blancs, introducing white peach and a mouth-watering finish.

£17.00, mixed 6

Langlois-Chateau Cremant de Loire sparkling wine is my fizz pick from Majestic wine

If You Love Champagne...

NV Classique Crémant de Loire, Langlois-Chateau

★★ Great Wine

One of wine’s best kept secret’s? Owned by Bollinger since 1973, this zingy ‘reserve style’ sparkling is made from Chenin Blanc and zips with apple notes and toasted brioche.

£13.50, mixed 6

Ben Franks Wine recommends the Pasqua Passimento Bianco for your date night

For your date night

2024 Passione Sentimento Passimento Bianco, Pasqua

★★ Great Wine

A bad wine on a date night hogs all the attention, a great one just tastes fab. This bold, succulent and fruity white is luxuriously smooth and moreish. It’s bound to please.

£11.50, mixed 6

Familia Pacheo Vina Elena Organic Monastrell is my pick for Majestic's every day red wine

Everyday All-Rounder

2023 ‘Familia Pacheco’ Organic Monastrell, Viña Elena

★ Good Wine

I love a good Monastrell (aka Mourvèdre). This fresh, steel tank fermented organic red is juicy, bold and plain tasty. Perfect for pairing with Tuesday’s pasta or a succulent burger.

£9.00, mixed 6

Jim Barry Aegan Assyrtiko white wine at Majestic is my something different pick.

Something different?

2023 The Aegean Assyrtiko, Jim Barry

★ Good Wine

Jim Barry planted the first Assyrtiko, a Greek grape, in Australia’s Clare Valley. This exotic, fresh white wine has a lovely saline note to it and would make a great match for a haddock chowder, or kick back with some goat’s cheese.

£15.50, mixed 6
