Ben says

★★ Great Wine “Brick red Amarone with intense dried fruit aromas on the nose, mixed with leather, herbs and vanilla from extensive oak ageing. You’d think this would be very boozy but the alcohol is balanced well with fine, velvet tannins and bountiful amounts of raisin, prune, plum and dried raspberries. Long, memorable finish.”

Guerrieri Rizzardi '3 Cru' Amarone della Valpolicella Red Wine

KEY POINTS

Dry red wine made from a blend of Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, Barbera and Sangiovese with 16.0% abv. Long, slow fermentation for one month, followed by malolactic fermentation in oak with a further 36 months in oak and 12-24 months in bottle prior to release.

Food Pairing

Savoured this one with a delicious steak at Canny Man’s in Edinburgh, which was a match made in heaven. You need a good, rich meal to stand up to the wine’s whopping 16% abv, or go with a stinking good cheese.
