Ben says

★★ Great Wine Where you might expect a Charmat method wine in a field of traditional method rivals to feel short and simple, Silverhand Estate prove you can make wine every bit as exciting. Toasty but bright with plenty of character, I was thoroughly impressed with my first encounter of the wine. The price point is frighteningly good for the quality.

Guerrieri Rizzardi '3 Cru' Amarone della Valpolicella Red Wine

KEY POINTS

Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier blend with 12.0% abv.

Grown in: Kent, ENGLAND.

Food Pairing

If you want to keep things English then pair this Brut with fish, chips and mushy peas and you’ll be in for a glam beachside takeout. Fizz like this will also pair surprisingly well with katsu curry and there’s a place in town here in Bath that does a seasonal breaded pumpkin version that would pair so well with this wine.

Ben Franks Wine Tasting Note Producer Profile

About the Producer

Silverhand Estate is located in Luddesdown, Kent, and is one of England’s largest wine producers. It takes its name from King Ludd, who lost his hand in battle and had a silverhand made for him. The estate stretches across Kent for 500 acres and is sustainably focused, utilising organic viticulture and introducing livestock. It is owned by Regus billionaire Mark Dixon’s MDCV Group, who manage Chateau de Berne, one of the largest vineyards in Provence with 1,000 acres, and the English fizz brands Kingscote in Sussex and Harlot in Kent.
