Ben says
★★ Great Wine “Twiggy, green and yet rich on the nose, the wine’s leaner on the palate with a keen kick and layers of pistachio, green blackberries, juicy black plums, crunchy red fruit and leather. It is full, lengthy and broad in the mouth. Obviously a Bordeaux but like a nod to a different time. Still drinking surprisingly well, although may not have long left if you can find one.“
KEY POINTS
65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Merlot with 13.0% abv.
Grown in: Saint Julien AOC, Bordeaux, FRANCE.
Food Pairing
Braised beef is a good pairing for a mature but simple Bordeaux. It will complement the wine’s softer structure very well, whereas you might lose the wine against a well cut steak. It will also match nicely with a cheeseboard of a milder selection, or if you fancied something different a roasted aubergine would be a great pairing.
