Ben says

★★ Great Wine The wine is slightly reductive at first but soon opens up into a tide of lemon citrus, pithy orange zest, candy peel, almond and shortbread. It’s vibrant, juicy and long on the palate with good malo balance to soften out in the finish. The alcohol is hot on this wine but the flavours are delicious, so easy to dive back in for more!

Ben Franks Wine Tasting Note Producer Profile

About the Producer

Carrick Winery is a single-estate vineyard in Bannockburn, a sub-region of Central Otago’s Cromwell Basin, to the south of the Kawarau River. The vineyard has been farmed organically since 2008 (certified by Biogro) and is certified as Sustainable by Sustainable Wines New Zealand. The wines are intended to be expressions of place and are wildly fermented. The vines are planted on poor alluvial glacial soils and influenced by the local Lake Dunstan. Since 2021, the winery has been owned by Tony and Alison Cleland, who purchased it from founders Steve Green and Barbara Robertson-Green.
