Ben says

★★ Great Wine This Pinot Noir glides! Beautifully intense fragrance of strawberries, raspberries and vanilla pod. On the palate the strawberry is a little green, a little wild, but that works to lift the mix of crunchy cranberries, zingy-sharp raspberries, warming wood, and long finish. It’s young and all about the fruit but it’s definitely one to seek out.

Guerrieri Rizzardi '3 Cru' Amarone della Valpolicella Red Wine

Varietal Pinot Noir with 13.5% abv. Grown in the alluvial soil fan of the Lavaux Valley. Only native yeasts used and bottled with minimal SO2.

Food Pairing

As you can see from the photo, I enjoyed this with a fillet steak and the intensity and silkiness of the wine made it a fantastic pairing. Normally I would opt for something a little lighter to eat, but as they say, great Pinot Noir will go with almost any food!

Ben Franks Wine Tasting Note Producer Profile

About the Producer

Domaine Marchand-Grillots sees two Burgundian families come together, the Marchands from Morey St Denis and the Grillots from Gevrey Chambertin, unifying through a marriage in 1950. Jacques Marchand, the second generation who inherited management of the domain from Michel Marchand and Colette Grillot in 1975, looks after the vineyard with his son and winemaker Etienne. Etienne’s sister, Marion, manages the commercial and marketing side of the domain. Today the family manage 12 hectares with 49 plots in five different Burgundy villages. The winemaking uses only native yeast.
