Ben says
★★ Great Wine “Light and apple-green in colour with a nose that stings of nettles and perky lemongrass. There’s also some pithy lemon and salty salinity in the aroma. It is much more aromatic as it warms up than chilled – in fact I quite like the continued sting from the citric bite when this wine’s a bit warmer. Juicy with melon, lemons, limes and white peach, it’s all primary fruit but very satisfying. It’s too young for any of that interesting Hunter Valley honeyed complexity to come through – but, you know, I don’t miss it here.“
KEY POINTS
Varietal Semillon with 11.0% abv. Unoaked and cool fermentation and fined before any malolactic fermentation is allowed.
Grown in: Hunter Valley, AUSTRALIA.
Food Pairing
Greek salad with plenty of salty, crumbly feta and the kind of sweet, juicy tomatoes you can only really pick up fresh from the vine. I also love these kinds of wines with smelly, oily fish like mackerel, simply grilled, and new potatoes.
