Ben says

★ Good Wine Cabernet Franc is a wine lover’s secret. It moves past your middle of the road Cab Sauvignon into a rustic, more characterful persona that you want to get to know. It is one of my favourite grapes. This smoky, bell pepper smelling red is a little too off the beaten track. Its blackberry fruit is muddled in an incredibly green, charcoal-like palate with pops of cedar and brandy-like alcohol. It’s still a good wine if you’re willing to settle into it, accustom your palate, and give it some time.

About the Producer

Domaine Amirault was set up by Yannick Amirault in 1977. While it started with 3.9 hectares, today it encompasses a variety of winemakers from Amirault’s extended family and friends, covering the appellations of St Nicolas de Bougueil and Bourgueil. These wines, showcasing the appellations’ diverse terroirs, are sold under the Amirault label.
