Ben says
★★ Great Wine “Tasted this in a bit of a rush and wish I had more time with it because CORR what a wine this is. Meaty, peppery and fruity nose. Enticing and immediately ripe, piercing Syrah. It’s full and textured on the palate, rushing across the mouth with an almost weightless viscosity but dishing out plenty of flavour and a flinty, savoury finish with blackberry and plum notes. Great Syrah, and I’ll be buying a bottle to spend some time with it right away.”
KEY POINTS
82% Syrah, 11% Grenache and the balance made up of other varieties with 13.5% abv. Biodynamic. Fermented in open top fermenters with manual punch downs and larger closed-top tanks with pump overs. Aged for 16 months in Burgundy barriques, 15% of which is new oak.
Grown in: Central Coast, Santa Barbara, USA.
Food Pairing
I’d drink this very happily with meatballs (or a blackbean ball alternative) in a rich tomato and red wine sauce and slippery spaghetti pasta.
