Ben says
★★★ Outstanding Wine “Beautifully aromatic nose full of mineral character and fresh, almost tropical fruit. Somehow still youthful but with a nod of smoke and sesame. On the palate it’s viscous, full and lean with brightness in the finish and great acidity. This wine is in wonderful condition.”
KEY POINTS
Varietal Riesling with 12.5% abv. Fermented in stainless steel and then bottled. Low pH of 2.85. One of the coolest vintages on record and harvested 2-3 weeks late in pitifully low yields but exceptional quality.
Grown in: Eden Valley, AUSTRALIA.
Food Pairing
This has great body, so will match up with dishes like roast chicken. I enjoyed it with Thai green curry and rice noodles, which worked well but the food was lightly spiced so didn’t compete too much. Great risotto wine.

About the Producer
Henschke planed it’s first vines in the late 1800s and its current generation winemaker Cyril Henschke has developed his family’s reputation for premium Eden Valley Riesling since the 1950s. The ideal conditions of the estate’s vineyards, in this wine’s case the Keyneton and Springton vineyards, make for idyllic conditions for ageable dry Riesling. The wine is named after Cyril’s ancestor Julius Henschke, an artist.
