Ben says

★★ Great Wine Ruby with garnet hues. Slow legs. Chalky, deep cherry, potpourri, smoke, kernel aroma. High acidity, high alcohol, packs of bite, pencil shavings, cherries, kirsch, tangy morello cherry, wooded. Just too spirity. After it opens up it comes in waves of chocolate raisins, raw wood, macerated black cherries and anise. Needs more time.

Ben Franks Wine Tasting Note Producer Profile

About the Producer

Ornella Tondini and Lionel Cousin moved to Montalcino and found the site of Centine to the south west, an area that had not been cultivated for 40 years. This “untouched” piece of land was the inspiration to develop their organic and low intervention wine estate, planting 3.4 hectares of vines in 1997 on south facing slopes with the aid of Carlo Ferrini and, later, Francois Bouchet who initiated them into the world of biodynamics. In the winery, they were guided by the great Henri Jayer of Burgundy.
