Ben says

★★ Great Wine Cabernet Franc is one of my favourite grape varieties and I am consistently stunned by the quality of German Spatburgunder, aka Pinot Noir. So when I found one of my favourite German producers Oliver Zeter had an estate Cab Franc I got very excited. The wine’s nicely developed, picked from ripe fruit and giving intense notes of dried blackcurrant, cherry and plum. It is fresh, with a smoky bite and red fruit acidity on the finish. It’s soft and easy to drink but, importantly, memorable too.

Ben Franks Wine Tasting Note Producer Profile

About the Producer

Oliver Zeter’s namesake winery was started by Oliver and his brother Christian. The winery was set up in the Pfalz, Germany, in 2007. The vision was to make wines ‘free from the shackles of tradition’ and in their own style, selecting some of the region’s finest grapes for their labels. Later, the brothers began to purchase their own vineyards for a series of estate wines. They are perhaps best known for their Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc white wines.
