Ben says

★ Good Wine Purple-ruby hue. Aromas of cooked plum, ripe blackberry and strawberries with black pepper. Very soft on the palate, right in the ideal drinking window. It’s certainly big but it’s tempered by a black pepper kick that imitates freshness. Does everything you’d want a wine to do for this price.

Côtes du Ventoux Sainsbury's Taste the Difference, Les Caves Amédée

KEY POINTS

Grenache and Syrah blend with 14.5% abv. Made by winemaker Geneviève Robert.

Grown in: Cotes du Ventoux, Rhone, FRANCE.

Food Pairing

Bottle suggests pairing with duck, but while this has some fruity sweetness, now it’s dominated by rich, opulent fruits and a kick of spice. For me that shuns the wine firmly into beef, glazed ribs, lamb hot pot, or pasta in a thick, shiny and rich tomato Ragu.

Disclosure & Price

Purchased for £10 at full price from Sainsbury’s.
