Ben says

★★ Great Wine Ruby that dials slowly away as it reaches the clear hue of the lip. Some legs spiral as you swirl it about. Dried berries, potpourri, violets and black liquorice make up a light and aromatic nose. Juicy on the palate with sharp acidity and vibrant berry fruit against a very floral backing and pricks of spiced clove. Long toasted finish. This wine is fresh and complex, while quite ripe.

Guerrieri Rizzardi '3 Cru' Amarone della Valpolicella Red Wine

KEY POINTS

Varietal Pinot Noir with 13.0% abv. Harvested over 10 days in March from sandy clay loam soils. Destemmed and wildly fermented in oak. 10% of this was whole bunch fermentation. Matured in 500L oak barrels, 20% of which was new.

Grown in: Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, South AUSTRALIA.

Food Pairing

I enjoyed this with sausages, red cabbage, apple, and onion stew with roast potatoes. It worked very nicely. I imagine the deep, textured style with it’s bright acidity would be a delightful match for a top cut of beef wellington.
