Ben says
★ Good Wine “This unfiltered wine is a little hazy, but the bottle looks great. The label has artistic flair and the orange wine is, well, very orange. On the nose this wine smells more like shower gel or a perfumed candle than it does wine – rose water, wax, citrus and peach tea. It’s a very layered, soft wine with long, ripe fruity notes and a dry finish – although it is somewhat reminiscent of marmalade. No doubt a good wine, but whether I could do more than a glass or two with its very pungent blossom aroma is something I’m yet to find out.“

KEY POINTS

Food Pairing
Floral wines can pair well with seafood pasta, or crab on toast. It’s also a good one to go for when eating milder cheese like sheep’s or goat’s cheese.

About the Producer
Founded in the 1960s, Domaine Charles Frey is a pioneer of organic and biodynamic viticulture in Alsace, north-east France. Charles Frey made his first vintage in 1963 and his son Dominique took over in 1984, converting the estate to organic and practising biodynamics since 1996. Today it is run by Julien and Thiebaud, the third generation of Freys, and they look after 14 hectares of vines.
